This season and the next featured the "Super Powers" tagline, which was part of a marketing tie-in with a toy line of the same name produced by Kenner. They retrieve Aquaman's body from Brainiac's city and take it to Dr. They used a swamp-based mechanical flying headquarters, the Hall of Doom resembling the helmet of Darth Vaderas a contrast to the Super Friends' gleaming Hall of Justice. Standing side by side, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern and the Martian Manhunter take on alien posers and come to realize that Earth needs a protectorate made up of only the mightiest icons!
All returns to normal, but Batman wonders if the Justice League will, one day, really accomplish world peace. It's really worthwhile to read those stories back to back to back—it didn't matter to us that one was at DC and two were at Marvel—I think it was us being creative, thinking what would be really cool to do. The local people are all visibly cowed and paranoid, and avoid making eye contact, until one older lady recognizes them as "the forbidden ones," and yells for the police. Throughout the series, plots often wrapped themselves up neatly in the final minutes of an episode in the fashion of the typical comic books and deus ex machina. Writing[ edit ] Plot lines for the later series involved many of the familiar DC Comics super-villains that the first incarnation of the Super Friends did not. Plus, the Atom and Jean Loring get married—but will the power of her mind destroy the Earth?
Justice League of America[ edit ] Those who make up the JLA in the story are mostly based on the incarnation of the team seen in the s and early s, commonly referred to as the Justice League Satellite era. This is when the issue is at its best. From issue to on, the issues were giant-sized. The mechanical worms were stolen designs from Dr. Ultimately, it was way too easy to resolve. Breakdowns for this issue can be found in the spoiler tag.

As I remember
Afterthought is going toe-to-toe with Black Canary and Lobo, while Prometheus takes advantage of his opportunity to embarrass Vixen in front of a crowd of civilians. Overall while fun and enjoyable it lacked any real punch. Ultraa, hero of Earth-Prime, joins the League in their battle with the Injustice Gang, while the Phantom Stranger assists the team against a family of ancient gods!
I enjoyed everything involving Prometheus, and found the fisticuffs between Lobo and Afterthought to be mindless fun. Luthor, Brainiac and the others are imprisoned and Wonder Woman is taken to Themyscirathe Paradise-Island, where her mother, Queen Hippolyta, restores her with the help of the Gods.
But that doesn't change the need for heroes There's one way to find out, so Superman and Firestorm team up to create a protective transparent bubble, in which four of them ride, while Superman flies through the sound barrier, the light barrier, and the time barrier, backward, to January Gray criticized that the issue felt more like a Justice League issue, with the Justice League of America members all taking a back seat to the issue's events.
Green Lantern's ring confirms that it's Earth-Prime. The fourth and final segment featured a story with one of the primary lineup and a "special guest star". I was impressed with most of the stories, particularly since DC always aimed its books at a younger audience than Marvel.
In the last few issues things do get better which kind of makes me want to pick up volume two, but oh boy, I'm not sure it will happen. But all is not what it seems. Shelves: dc-comicslibrary-books Damn, does Brad Meltzer know how to write a great comic or what?
This was a great creative team delivering on all fronts and i'll definitely be looking for more of Meltzer's graphic novels in future. Writing[ edit ] Plot lines for the later series involved many of the familiar DC Comics super-villains that the first incarnation of the Super Friends did not.
Characters[ edit ] This section contains embedded lists that may be poorly defined, unverified or indiscriminate.
All returns to normal, but Batman wonders if the Justice League will, one day, really accomplish world peace. Red Tornado eventually finds clues that might lead to Aquaman's location, but is surprised by a traitor among the Justice League's ranks, who destroys him and gives Grodd access to the Watchtower's computers and its members' secret identities.
Nevertheless, team members sometimes referred to themselves as the Justice League on the show. Before the League can even get their bearings, the Crime Syndicate dives on top of them. His biggest obstacle is consistency considering the quality of his pencils shifts drastically from panel to panel.
Continuity[ edit ] Justice takes place outside of the regular DC Universe continuity, with most of the characters featured in the story being modern day incarnations of their Silver Age of comic books counterparts.
It couldn't, but his baby son's can, and Black Manta kidnaps him.
